Every great institution begins with a single, stubborn belief — that things can be better. For Sawa Excellent School, that belief belonged to Mr. Samuel, a man who looked at the children of Eastleigh and saw not their circumstances, but their limitless potential.
Armed with passion, purpose, and very little else, Mr. Samuel took his first step not in a grand building, but in a single borrowed room — and that was enough. He understood that excellence does not wait for perfect conditions. It begins wherever you are, with whatever you have.
Today, he leads a school of over 500 learners, a dedicated teaching staff, and a vision that stretches far beyond any single campus. But he has never forgotten where it all began — and that humble beginning remains the school's greatest source of pride.

Sawa Excellent School opened its doors in a single rented room in the heart of Eastleigh. Mr. Samuel stood before a handful of young learners — no fancy desks, no polished floors, no signboard — only an unshakeable commitment to give each child the education they deserved. Word spread quickly among families who had long searched for a school that truly cared. Within weeks, every seat in that room was filled.
📖 FoundationDemand from the community grew faster than anyone had anticipated. Parents who enrolled one child came back for their siblings. Families recommended Sawa to their neighbours. Mr. Samuel expanded from one classroom to four, taking on more teachers and stretching every resource to its limit. It was a season of scraping and stretching — but also of discovery: the Sawa spirit was real, and it was contagious. The school earned a reputation as a place where learners were seen, known, and challenged.
🏫 ExpansionRented rooms could no longer contain the vision. In a defining act of faith and sacrifice, Mr. Samuel purchased land — the school's very own ground to stand on. It was a moment that changed everything. No longer tenants of borrowed space, Sawa Excellent now had a home it could build, expand, and own. Construction began on the first permanent structure: a full floor of purpose-built classrooms, designed with the learner in mind — bright, spacious, and alive with possibility.
🏗 ConstructionSawa Excellent School today is a fully-fledged institution that would be unrecognizable to anyone who saw that first rented room. We serve over 500 learners across Pre-Primary, Primary, and Junior School under the Competency-Based Curriculum. Our team of dedicated, qualified educators brings passion to every classroom. We have a playground, a swimming pool, a cafeteria, sports facilities, and a community of families who trust us with what matters most to them — their children. We are proud of how far we have come, and we have not slowed down for a single day.
🎓 500+ StudentsMr. Samuel's vision has never been confined to one campus. What began in Eastleigh was always intended to reach further. The next chapter of Sawa Excellent is the Sawa Group of Schools — multiple campuses, serving thousands of learners across Nairobi and beyond. The dream is not to be the biggest, but to be the most trusted name in Kenyan education: schools where every learner, regardless of background, is given the tools, environment, and belief they need to excel. The foundation is set. The building continues.
